INSURANCE QUESTIONS

We’ve teamed up with Fast Cover travel Insurance to ensure all our members have the best possible cover. Use this link for the EO travel insurance discount https://fastcover.com.au/?voucher=EOSPEC

Travel insurance is considered great for peace of mind, but it may not cover everything because it may be dependent on your personal and financial circumstances as well as on the T&Cs as per the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), and your policy document.

Who can use the discount code?

This special discount code is for EO members and their families.

My credit card already has travel insurance, why do I need a separate policy?

Whether you are covered for situations that you want travel insurance to cover depends on the terms and conditions (T&Cs) of your credit card travel insurance. Some types of Credit card insurance, especially with Platinum or top-tier cards, might do the trick. But here’s where it may fall short:
  • No coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Only works if you paid for the trip (or most of it) with that card.
  • The insurance may be less comprehensive, with lower limits and fewer benefits, as some banks might focus on the card, not the included insurance

Do I need to declare existing medical conditions?

Yes, if you want them to be considered for cover, you must declare them when you get a quote. One of the duties that applies to the person seeking cover is that of full and transparent disclosure.

What if alcohol or drugs are involved in an incident?

If you're under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any prohibited substances and an incident occurs, your claim may be denied if these substances contributed to the situation.

Can I make a claim if I cancel my trip for any reason?

Not quite. You might be covered for situations like an unexpected medical emergency or a close family issue. This is however dependent upon the T&Cs listed in the (PDS) and your certificate of insurance.

But changing your mind or work conflicting with the trip or something else not covered in the policy? Then the claim may be declined.

Is there cover for COVID-19?

Yes, our policies provide some coverage for COVID-19. Check our Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for full terms and conditions.

What about natural disasters or weather events in Sri Lanka?

Reimbursement of expenses relating to natural disasters like floods, tsunamis, or monsoons (which might often be in the news for Sri Lanka) might be covered depending on when you purchased the policy and your particular circumstances. However, if they were forecasted before you bought the policy or if travel alerts were issued by us or the government, or listed on the Australian Government’s Smart Travellers website, then cover may not be available.

Is riding or being a passenger on motorcycles, mopeds or scooters covered?

It may be covered as per the terms and conditions of your policy, one of the conditions being that you take the motorcycle option when you buy the policy.

If you're the rider or the passenger, ensure that you are aware of the specific conditions in the PDS, such as (but not limited to) – licensing relating to engine capacity, use of helmets, permits, etc. You must follow the conditions of your Australian licence and ensure that the licence is valid in Sri Lanka. Please always follow the local laws and regulations and don’t forget to follow the local government authorities’ instructions in any situations.

This FAQ is just for general information only, not personal or financial advice. It is intended to be a quick and general overview of commonly asked questions. Read the (PDS) for all the details and terms and conditions.

Got any questions? Reach out to us at 1300 409 322 or info@fastcover.com.au, tell them your discount code is EOSPEC if you want to purchase over the phone.
